Dear old Handel? Well well, how benevolent and seemly one can become with
the passing of the ages. Although pedantry and semantics have their passing
amusement they hardly seem worth much in the way of response. Let the
Childer play, I generally say. But now I see Badger giving away secrets
left right and centre, though. Tsk, I don't know, back when I was a...
Ahem. I suppose the sledgehammer approach does need more and more force
behind it to try and open those eyes. A peculiar picture is painted there,
yes, but if the heavy bit is striking the toes one can see how the eyes are
forcibly opened. Along with the mouth and a few other bits and pieces too
probably. However, I digress. I was being accused of being both dear and
old, thus I shall slip into old hippy mode in a blatant attack of the most
horrific nature.
"Ouch"
-some painful doggerel by Handel W. Care
First we see the friend or foe,
Whatever shape they're in,
Sect or Clan, it matters? No.
Fratricide - oft used sin.
Judge another on their worth,
Not happenstance of blood,
No vampiric sense of birth,
Makes fishmalk more than dud.
Tremere stand-up, Ventrue clown,
Are less prevalent, true,
If friends, when the chips are down
Still they will stand with you.
For trust is earned through actions,
Not words that fall like rain,
Happy boxing factions?
Is it really worth the gain?
Ouch indeed.
Or in other words: People are people first - Kine or Kindred. Prejudicial
ideas that people have more in common with you because of shared genes or
blood are surely for those with limited outlooks? Simplistic, one might think.
On the outside Badger and I could be taken for Gangrel and Brujah,
respectively. Or both Brujah. Or... oh, several outward appearances that
others may perceive. I've been taken for a Toreador or Tremere on more
occasions than I might publicly care to admit to when not intending to be
taken as such. If we were any of those we'd still be us, sans any 'great
blessings' that some people like to go on about. Sure, differences occur
due to Clan, but I'd trust an out of Clan type who'd proven themselves far
more than 'another Malk' who acted like we were in a special club together.
Those types can just be embarrassing. All the same, Clan loyalty is a good
thing. I, personally, have sent to the Final Death a number of Malkavians
because there was no other recourse due to their flagrant breaches of the
precepts of the Masquerade. It was either me or someone from outside 'the
family', and it was my responsibility, really. So much better to be removed
by someone who actually cares, after all..
