Welcome to Gladstone's Nubians & LaManchas. I have enjoyed raising animals for many years & have been seriously breeding goats since 1994. There is something special about these critters, they have a way of imprinting their hoofprints on your heart. I find my time in the milkroom very soothing, using the words from a song, "a peaceful easy feeling".
My herd enjoys good health, with chemical use kept to a minimum. My vet uses a holistic approach with medications being mostly herbal and homeopathic. Everyone is given CD&T vaccines and are wormed as needed. We feed a good quality grass hay, does are fed 18% Poulin Sweet Goat and bucks are fed a 14% grain with ammonium chloride added. The does are also fed barley & shredded beet pulp. Everyone also has access to free choice baking soda & minerals, and does are not given added selenium. We like easy keepers who are able to utilize the minerals in their grain & loose minerals.
We are blessed with the harmonious refrains of does "singing" during the last stages of their pregnancies 24 hours a day on the intercom. All births are attended with the kids being removed at birth and raised on heat treated colostrum and pasteurized milk. They are started on second cut hay and a 22% calf starter with rumensin.
I ask for a $50 deposit on any kid ordered, you will be notified of the birth and the balance is due within two weeks. If your choice is not available, your deposit will be returned. The purchaser is responsible for all shipping expenses, crate and health certificate. Kids will be shipped out of Portland, Maine.
