Elephant shrew

There are eight species of elephant shrew in Southern Africa.  They are normally active during daytime eating insects but they love eating termites and ants.

Their long trunk-like noses are constantly twitching around hence the name elephant shrew.  They move around by bouncing like kangaroo's because their rear legs and feet are much larger than their front legs.

They occur in the rocky hills and mountainous areas in the east of Southern Africa.
