Three Peace Sweet
From the Scottish island of Orkney, Three Peace Sweet were formed in 1997 by members of several bands who felt it was time to come up with something unique - to write and sing songs about their homeland, play fiddle and pipe tunes and deliver their music with sheer excitement and energy, incorporating various rhythmic styles from around the world.  The very first gig proved this combination to be most successful, the audience could simply not get enough!

The name may be confusing as there are actually seven band members (three originals share the surname, Peace).   In typical islander fashion, all the musicians are very versatile.  If you want to play regularly within a small community, you at least have to be able to adapt to different styles, preferably play more than one instrument.  This is demonstrated with vigour during any live Three Peace Sweet performance.

So far, two albums have been released by the band on Orkney based record label, Mariner Music - Lightning Touches in 1999 and Generations in 2001.  Both have broken local sales records on release, by far outselling the national chart-toppers.  Touring has inevitably followed the recording success with Three Peace Sweet appearing at various UK folk festivals and representing Orkney in London's Millennium Dome.  They were asked back to represent Scotland on St Andrew's day but had to decline due to prior commitments.

Lightning Touches was awarded 'Best Celtic Album of 1999' by Scottish radio station, Moray Firth although many radio stations feature and devote generous airtime to Three Peace Sweet on both sides of the Atlantic.

Being from such a remote area means many hours are spent travelling to and from venues but being brought up in this near-solitude undoubtedly inspires the musical magic which has made Three Peace Sweet so desirable to audiences from all over the world.
